Recent PhilAgriNet Activities

1. Turnover ceremonies of a server from DA-BAR to UPLB Main Library on June 4, 2010. This will house the PhilAgriNet national database of Philippine agricultural literature.
2. Soft launch of the PhilAgriNet web site also on June 4,2010 during the ALAP Seminer and General Assembly
3. Survey of prospective members - July, 2010
4. Planning workshops for two PhilAgriNet capacity building seminar workshops to be held in Bohol in November 2010 and in Benguet in February 2011
5. Active encouragement of members to actively contribute to the PhilAgriNet database
6. Use of social networking to create awareness of PhilAgriNet

What is PhilAgriNet

PhilAgriNet stands for Philippine Agricultural Information Network. It is a collaborative initiative among 15 major agricultural institutions in the Philippines. It aims to bridge the gap between products of Philippine agricultural research and agricultural scientists worldwide. The charter members of PhilAgriNet are: Benguet State University (BengSU), Camarines Sur State University (CSSU), Cavite State University CavSU), Central Luzon State University(CLSU),
Department of Agriculture (DA), Don Mariano Marcos State University(DMMSU), International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Isabela State University (ISU), Leyte State University (LSU), Nueva Vizcaya State University NVSU), Philippine Rice Research Institute PhilRice), Silliman University (SU), University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB), and Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines (ALAP).

PhilAgriNet maintains an electronic database of Philippine technical agricultural literature at the UPLB Main Library. This will soon be published on the WWW. Content development is a collaborative activity among the members.
