PhilAgriNet Acquires Legal Personality

The Philippine Agricultural Information Services Network, Inc. (PhilAgriNet) was duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on July 21, 2010. With its legal personality, the network can now engage in more activities with facility and more efficiency. Documentation was prepared by Carmelita Austria of IRRI and Imelda Veluz of the UPLB Post Harvest Research and Training Center Library. The latter also liaised with SEC to ensure that every document meets accepted standards. Actual filing with the SEC, which involved queuing for long periods, was accomplished by Imelda Veluz and Andriette Valdez of the UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources Management. This registration needs to be renewed on a yearly basis.

    Hi Mam...I am a college Librarian of the davao del Norte State College, Panabo City, Davao del Norte, Philippines, formerly Davao del Norte School of Fisheries. Our flagship is Fisheries major in Aquaculture, Marine Fisheries or Fish Capture and fish Processing. I understand that Fisheries is under Agriculture, with this I would like to inquire if our College is qualified to become a member/recipient of PHILAGRINET? so we can also avail of the privileges particularly on information materials related to agriculture.

    Sorry for my late reply. Just came across your comment today. Anyway, if you want to be a member of PhilAgriNet, please ask your college head to write a letter of request to Dr. Nicomedes Eleazar, Director, DA-BAR.
    For materials on fisheries, please search the AGRIS database at http://agris.fao.org/ You will find a lot of ree materials there. If you need help in using the database, please let me know.
